Protesters in downtown Bowling Green voice concerns over Trump’s actions

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The cold and wet weather did not stop protesters from voicing their concerns over President Donald Trump’s actions against the U.S. Treasury and USAID.

Dozens of protesters voiced their concerns over multiple actions Trump has taken in his first few weeks in office. Recently, Trump, through the use of executive actions, has put a block on foreign aid, closed the USAID office in Washington, D.C. and put many employees around the world on notice that they may be put on administrative leave.

Many protesters voiced their displeasure of Elon Musk’s role inside of Trump’s administration. Signs read “where was Musk on the ballot,” “arrest Musk” and “nobody elected the muskrat.” A few protesters were afraid to voice their concerns on camera for fear of retribution.

One protester said these concerns cross party lines and that even Trump voters are voicing their displeasure with his administrations actions.

“People everywhere, I think all over the country are saying, no, this isn’t even those of us that may have voted for Trump, This isn’t what we bargained for. It’s unprecedented. And it’s, I think, the first of many steps to not destroy the norms of democracy and so we just have to stop it,” said protester Michael Gramling.

This protest comes amid dozens of protests in cities across the country. The executive actions taken by Trump are expected to meet roadblocks as lawsuits are expected to be brought against multiple executive actions.
