Franklin Police help return missing child home

FRANKLIN, Ky. – A small child was reported missing on Jan. 12, one that the family didn’t know snuck out.

A young autistic girl who is not very verbal snuck out of her home on the night on Jan. 12 and was called in to the Franklin Police Department after being spotted by a motorist in town.

The man brought the child into his truck after seeing that she was only wearing a pajama set, no shoes, socks or a jacket.

Through the efforts of Capt. Duey Vaughn, officers were about to gather an address for the young girl who had just moved to Franklin and could not give directions to the police.

Vaughn said the family was unaware that she had left the house, even though they have measures in place to keep her from roaming around too much. Vaughn said he is thankful to be in a community that looks out for each other.
