DEVELOPING: 10 dead after vehicle drives into crowd in New Orleans

UPDATE, 1/1/25, 7:30 A.M.: During a press conference Wednesday morning, officials said a man intentionally drove his pickup truck into the crowd on Bourbon St. around 3:15 a.m. At least 10 people were killed, and 35 were taken to the hospital with injuries. After driving through the crowd, the suspect shot two officers after he crashed his vehicle.

Investigators said they found an improvised explosive device at the scene. The FBI is taking over the investigation. FBI officials said the incident was not terrorism.

People are advised to stay away from the area from Bourbon St. to St. Ann.

NEW ORLEANS, La.- The New Orleans Police Department is on the scene of a major incident on Bourbon Street. We’re told that there are possibly several casualties after a car plowed into a group of people. Police say at least 10 people may be dead, and at least 26 were injured. Multiple EMS units are on the scene, according to NOPD.
