Glasgow man flees deputies in car chase, crashes stolen truck

GLASGOW, Ky. – A Glasgow man fled from deputies and crashed a stolen truck on Wednesday.

The Barren County Sheriff’s Office says an officer observed a red truck on Payne Mill Road believed to be stolen from Metcalfe County and instructed the operator to stop.

The deputy identified the man as Colin R. Matthews, 31 of Glasgow. Matthews had active warrants and is a suspect in several theft cases in neighboring counties.

Deputies say Matthews did not comply and fled in the stolen truck at a high speed toward Oil Well Road.

Additional deputies joined the chase into the area.

During the investigation, deputies located gravel and fresh mud on a property where they discovered Matthews. Matthews led deputies on a second chase. Matthews then crashed the stolen vehicle into the woods.

Matthews was then placed under arrest and the vehicle was determined to be stolen.

Matthews is lodged at the Barren County Detention Center and is charged with fleeing or evading police 1st degree and receiving stolen property $1,000 > $10,000.
