Man arrested following high-speed pursuit in Barren County

PARK CITY, Ky. – A man is facing charges after a police pursuit through Park City on Monday.

According to a uniform citation, the Barren County Sheriff’s Office observed a 2000 Toyota Avalon going 86 miles per hour in a 55 mph zone on Louisville Road around 5:29 p.m.

The driver was identified as Rodney Froedge, 62 of Park City.

The citation says a deputy activated emergency equipment, and Froedge immediately tried to drive away. Deputies say they reached speeds of 100 mph while pursuing Froedge.

Froedge then turned and stopped at a residence, deputies say.

Upon speaking with Froedge, deputies say he stated he fled because he did not want a speeding ticket.

During a vehicle search, deputies say they located a dollar bill with a white powdery substance, which Froedge stated was methamphetamine.

Froedge was arrested and is charged with speeding 26 miles per hour or greater over the speed limit, reckless driving, first-degree fleeing or evading police, failure to produce an insurance card, first-degree wanton endangerment – police officer and first-degree possession of a controlled substance, first offense (methamphetamine).

Froedge remains at the Barren County Detention Center.
