Warren County showcasing agriculture in Kentucky State Fair
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Kentucky State Fair, which begins today and runs through Aug. 25, serves as a grand showcase of the state’s agricultural achievements.
Agriculture commissioner Jonathan Shell highlights that the fair brings together the best of Kentucky agriculture in one place, offering a unique opportunity to celebrate and promote local farming. With the fair’s location in a highly populated area, many attendees who live in cities may not often see where their food comes from.
Carl Chaney, owner of Chaney’s Dairy Barn, notes, “Most of those folks up there live in the city and don’t get a chance to see what agriculture is really all about.”
The fair prioritizes spotlighting agriculture, impacting not only local farmers but also educating the broader public.
Shell emphasizes the need to teach young people about food origins, ensuring they understand the importance of agriculture in providing a healthy and abundant food supply.
Chaney adds that the hard work involved in farming benefits both farmers and their communities, with visitors gaining insight into farm life and contributing to local tourism, and Chaney’s Dairy Barn won gold at the Kentucky State Fair.
