Remembering a historic building after the devastating fire on State Street
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – One year ago, a fire consumed 1025 State St., a historic building that has stood for over 100 years.
Home to many different businesses and organizations, it saw the likes of the Royal Music Company, Sen. Rand Paul’s Bowling Green office, Kerrick Bachert law firm and was the Bowling Green Fire Department’s first home for career firefighters.
Decades of Bowling Green residents have driven past this building, and getting used to a familiar sight being gone has been difficult.
The fire was also a challenging one to fight. The fire was already ahead of the firefighters when they arrived only four minutes after receiving the call, and it was also located in one of the more difficult areas to reach.
Time marches on, though, and while the lot sits vacant, and memories are the only thing that is left, the future is looking bright.
