Former Cougar crushing it in New England Collegiate Baseball League

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Earlier this week, a former Logan County Cougar baseball standout was named player of the week in a prominent summer ball league.

Second baseman Braxton Meguiar joined the Vermont Mountaineers out of the New England Collegiate Baseball League this summer following a strong 2024 with the Georgia Gwinnett Grizzlies.

And this past week, he was named player of the week after playing vital role in the Mountaineer’s offense.

Meguiar tallied a couple three-hit performances, as well as reaching safely in each of the week’s games, and he shared more on his improvement this far into his career, along with what it’s like to play in front of major league scouts on a regular basis.

“I would say I’ve definitely matured a lot in the emotional aspect of just learning to play the game even more the right way. I’ve always played the game hard and played what I thought to be the right way, but there’s little things that I’ve worked on and gotten better at that I’ve improved in my game,” Meguiar said.

“I’m just taking it one day at a time and if somebody notices me and takes a chance, man, I’m always there for it, but I’m going to just continue to play ball until somebody takes my cleats away, so I’m just always going to continue to have fun on that ball field.”
