Restricted boating zone: Barren River Lake holding swimming championship

BARREN COUNTY, Ky. –  The 2024 Southern Zone Open Water Swimming Championship will be held under the Sanction of USA Swimming.

The three-day event will be held at Sunset Cove Beach at Barren River Lake in Lucas, Kentucky from May 31 to June 2. Entry fees are $85 per individual event and $15 for pursuit or relay teams.

An area will be zoned “NO BOATS/KEEP OUT” for the swimming competition. The restriction lasts from 11 a.m. on May 31 to June 2nd 1 p.m.

The course will be patrolled by safety personnel for the swimmers and to prevent boats from entering the area.

The U.S Army Corps of Engineers, Louisville District says “Please use caution when traveling adjacent to this area.”
