Free resources and services offered at B.G. Neighbors Service Fair

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- A wide variety of organizations like United Way, B.G Neighbors Aid Network and many others came together to provide a one-stop-shop for people to gain access to resources and services they may not be able to get on their own for free.

Emily Witthuhn, a member of the B.G. Neighbors leadership team, tells us why this is important. She says, “Our primary goal is to do street outreach for community members in our area who are unhoused or precariously housed. That’s something that we want to see happen with the services here, too, is like bringing together these agencies that all care about the same thing, care about the quality of life and making life more livable for folks in Bowling Green.”

Changing the quality of life is a fraction of what the B.G. Neighbors are doing. Many people have gone years without necessities, like medical treatment testing for harmful diseases and so much more. Timothy Hayes shares a part of his story.

He says, “In ’21, when a tornado came through and took everything away from me and my fiancé, our lives took a whirlwind of a time. This is one of the most kindhearted, um, generous, unselfishness groups of people I’ve ever met, have been honored to meet, in my entire life. God had to have broken the mold when every one of these individuals was born.”

This is just the beginning for the B.G. neighbors. They are going to continue using connections and resources to change people’s lives.

Witthuhn says, “We know that we can’t solve homelessness in Bowling Green, but what we try to do through our outreach is make each day a little bit more livable for people who are living under those conditions.”
