Faustino and Betancourt named to CSC Academic All-District Team

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WKU SPORTS) — WKU women’s basketball had two student-athletes named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Teams, the organization announced on Tuesday. Teresa Faustino and Odeth Betancourt each earned the honors for the 2023-24 season.
It is Faustino’s second time earning the award, also being named to the All-District Team in 2022-23. Faustino was also recognized on the Conference USA All-Academic Team this season. The Barreiro, Portugal native is a mechanical engineering major and systems engineering minor at WKU and has maintained a 3.93 grade point average.
Faustino was the led the team in field goal percentage (40.6%) and steals (34) during CUSA play. She led the team in scoring in three games this season, including a career high 18-point performance against FIU. She also led the team in steals in seven games.
Betancourt is a criminology major and sociology minor at WKU and has maintained a 3.56 grade point average through her undergraduate work.
The San Cristobal, Venezuela native was WKU’s leading rebounder in 2023-24, pulling down 4.6 rebounds per game and 5.1 boards per game in CUSA play. She led the team in rebounding in seven games, including a career high 11-rebound effort against Nevada.
