Ohio Department of Health warning about potential measles exposure at CVG Airport

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Department of Health announced Monday that it is warning people out of an abundance of caution about a possible exposure to measles at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport.

Health officials say this may have been during Jan. 27 between 5 and 9 p.m. and Jan. 29 between 8:30 and 11:30 p.m. at Terminal A.

At this time, vaccinated individuals are “at very low risk,” according to a release.

The exposure is related to a Montgomery County child infected with measles, health officials say, the first measles case in Ohio of 2024. This warning is not about an additional case.

Health officials say they are working with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, as well as other other state and local health officials to determine who might have been exposed.

ODH says measles is extremely contagious, and those who are not vaccinated and may have been exposed should watch for symptoms, including a first stage of a fever over 101 degrees, a runny nose, watery eyes and a cough. This is followed by a second stage of a rash appearing on the face and spreading to the rest of the body.

If you develop symptoms, it is recommended to stay home and call your healthcare provider.
