Med Center EMTs report lack of weather related incidents

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – As bone-chilling systems move through the area, everyone seems to have stayed safe inside for the most part.

News 40 stopped by EMS headquarters where the station talked to Field Supervisor Stephen Parrott. Parrott told News 40 that they were actually a bit surprised at the lack of calls they had to respond to. According to EMS, there were just a handful of wrecks where people had to be transported for further medical care, but overall, the number of accidents was low.

Parrott said that he’s glad the news got out and that people seemingly decided to stay inside. Parrott also said that the wrecks subsided as the week went on. The EMT said the hazards came and went, crediting the Kentucky Cabinet of Transportation for treating the roads as much as they did.

Parrot also told the station that over the course of the week, they handed out blankets to those whom they saw outside, telling us that Bowling Green’s homeless population is the most at risk.
