Impeachment Inquiry Expands: Pentagon, White House Subpoenaed
(NBC News) House Democrats issued two new subpoenas Monday as part of their growing impeachment inquiry, asking the Secretary of Defense and acting White House Budget Director for documents about the timing and reasons President Trump withheld military aid to Ukraine.
President Trump, meanwhile, went on the attack against a second whistleblower who’s now cooperating with the intelligence community’s inspector general.
The president claimed Democrats are trying to bring someone in “from the bench” to support their impeachment inquiry.
An attorney representing both whistleblowers says the second has “firsthand knowledge” of the July phone call when President Trump asked Ukraine’s leader to investigate Joe Biden and his son Hunter’s business dealings, despite no evidence of wrongdoing.
