Benjamin Craig Long authors Delafield book about the neighborhood

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Local author Benjamin Craig Long has written a book about his life growing up in the Delafield neighborhood in Bowling Green.

The working class community is often thought of as a undesirable but Long gives his own perspective from the inside out.

“It’s humorous because a lot of the things that happen to a young, young adolescent tend to be look back in a whimsical way. And of course, people said, if you’re from Delafield, you were poor. But I was not aware of that at the time,” Long said.

Delafield is a journey through Long’s youth, finding himself and finding love with some humor along the way.

The neighborhood is under new development in the near term and is now home to the BGMU water treatment facility which Long says can sometimes waft its unique smell across the neighborhood.

Long hopes the book will interest a new generation of people in learning about the neighborhood’s history and also bring people some joy.
