Dog wash raises funds at Butler County Animal Shelter

MORGANTOWN Ky. – The Butler County Animal Shelter offers a dog washing service to the community in order to be of direct service while also making some money for donations.

Director Ruby Fooks continues the service that started before she was the director and thinks that it is a good way to engage with the community.

“We get to see the community’s pets and ask if they need anything and let them know we’re here for them if they ever need anything or any assistance of any kind.” Fooks said.

The service is also helping cover some costs of the planned move for the aged shelter. The new facility will be more visible, not pushed outside of the town and will offer a variety of amenities like a community room to engage kids with what it is the shelter does. It will also be much larger, but thew planned size increase is more about engagement than warehousing the animals. This size increase is much anticipated and need says volunteers and donor Carla Morgan.

“We are really hoping, they need it, that they need it really, really bad. I help bring things down for the yard sale to go to it and help out whenever she needs me if I can.” Morgan said.
