Woman accused of stabbing boyfriend

A Bowling Green woman is accused of stabbing her boyfriend Sunday afternoon.

City police were called to 372 Pascoe Blvd. at 12:42 p.m. Sunday on a complaint of unknown trouble. When they arrived, Mariah Overfelt, 18, told police she had been a physical altercation with her boyfriend Shaunkeith Nelson, who she said she stabbed with a knife, according to her arrest citation.

Overfelt told police the two argued about Overfelt’s sister bringing a dog to the apartment because their lease does not permit them to have a dog, according to her arrest citation. Nelson attempted to remove the dog and that’s when she said the two began a shoving each other.

She said Nelson shoved her and she responded by stabbing him three times, according to her arrest citation.

Overfelt told police Nelson had his fists clenched throughout the incident and she feared for her personal safety, according to her citation.

Her sister, Brooke Overfelt, told police that the relationship between her sister and Nelson was volatile and that Nelson assaulted Mariah Overfelt Saturday, according to the citation.

Nelson was taken to TriStar Greenview Regional Hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries, according to the citation.

Mariah Overfelt is charged with first-degree assault domestic violence and was lodged in the Warren County Regional Jail. Her bond is $6,000.
