Sheriff’s office investigates spate of car break ins in Drakesborough
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Authorities are investigating after multiple vehicles in the Drakesborough neighborhood in Warren County have been ransacked over the past week.
The suspects are still at large, but the warren county sheriff’s office now has surveillance footage showing two people opening car doors.
Officials said the crooks took around $400 in cash from a single vehicle, a gun, a diaper bag and other items from vehicles around the neighborhood.
“When we went outside, we noticed that our vehicles doors were opened she usually locks her doors, but she was tired and forgot,” said Michael Elkins, a Drakesborough resident and theft victim.
Residents in the area said the car break-ins around the neighborhood have made them and their children feel unsafe in their own homes.
“More than the money and the items that they stole from us, what really made me angry was how it made my family feel. Our kids were pretty tore up and had to be helped at school with their teachers and administration people,” Elkins said.
Elkins also hopes the suspects get caught sooner rather than later.
“Apparently they have a firearm, and I don’t want them to get hurt,” Elkins said.
“If you see someone wearing a full out sweat suit and its 90 degrees, call us, something isn’t right,” Sheriff Brett Hightower said.
The Warren County Sheriff’s Office has been in the neighborhood multiple times and are asking for the public’s help in identifying the two shown in the videos.
“Be watchful, be mindful, and if you see something, say something,” Hightower said.
