Warren County man arrested after overdoses connected to fentanyl trafficking

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Authorities have arrested a man they say is responsible for at least one fentanyl overdose death in Warren County.
The Bowling Green-Warren County Drug Task Force says that on Oct. 24, 2022, an 18-year-old man was found dead after a fentanyl overdose in Smiths Grove.
Following this, the drug task force began a joint investigation with Warren County Sheriff’s Office detectives and Smiths Grove police.
The drug task force says this investigation led them and the WCSO to information that Antowan D. Cross, 30, of Bowling Green sold M-30 fentanyl pills to the 18-year-old the night before he died.
Then on Jan. 23, authorities say a Bowling Green woman was transported to The Medical Center at Bowling Green after suffering a near-fatal fentanyl overdose.
Authorities say Cross also sold her fentanyl that led to her overdose.
Following these investigations and toxicology results, authorities arrested Cross Thursday on Lovers Lane in Bowling Green without incident.
Authorities say during the arrest, they seized 57 M-30 fentanyl pills, 6 grams of cocaine, 7 Xanax pills and $1,240 in cash.
Additionally, Cross has been served with an indictment for a separate charge of trafficking fentanyl from an incident that occurred July 8, 2022, authorities say.
Cross remains in the Warren County Detention Center.
He faces charges of second-degree manslaughter, first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense (greater than or equal to 4 grams of cocaine), third-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense (drug unspecified), two counts of trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense (carfentanil or fentanyl derivatives), operating on a suspended or revoked operator’s license, careless driving and possession of marijuana.
The investigation is ongoing, and further charges are possible.
