Prosecutors drop sex assault case against Kevin Spacey
(NBC News) Prosecutors in Massachusetts have dropped a sexual assault case against actor Kevin Spacey, in analleged groping incident at a Nantucket bar in 2016.
Cape & Islands District Attorney Michael O’Keefe cited the “unavailability of the complaining witness” in filing for dismissal Wednesday in the Nantucket District Court.
Last week, Spacey’s accuser invoked his Fifth Amendment rights after being questioned about his role in the deleting of text messages from a cell phone key to the case.
The accuser’s mother, Heather Unruh, later testified that she deleted information from the phone before handing it over to police. According to Unruh, the information was unrelated to the case and revealed, in her words, “frat boy” activities.
Spacey was accused of indecent assault and battery.
He has maintained his innocence in a string of similar misconduct allegations levied against him last year.
