Roughly 800 Kentuckians died by suicide 2021: Help change this stat
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Roughly 800 Kentuckians died by suicide in 2021, according to American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. And that organization wants your help to change those numbers.
This Sunday, you can join AFSP’s 10th Annual Bowling Green Out of the Darkness Community Walk.
American Foundation for Suicide Prevention says this walk is a journey of remembrance, hope and support.
180 people have already registered at Ephram White Park to support the “Out of the Darkness Community”.
Organizer Katelyn Simpson said, “This walk matters to me because I lost my brother to suicide 17 years ago, and I realized that Bowling Green needed a safe space so that we can all come together….It’s a good time of healing and hope it’s a good way to let your friends and family know that you are standing up to suicide.”
Food trucks will arrive at the park by noon while the walk starts at 1 p.m.
