U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship begins at Olde Stone; hyper local-golf exposure
International golf prodigies post low day 1 stroke play scores
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The United States Golf Association chose The Club at Olde Stone to host the 73rd U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship.
11 to 18-year-old prodigies have flown in from across the world to tear up the Bowling Green fairways – a massive honor yielding international exposure.
Olde Stone Director of Golf Kevin Childers said, “We’ve hosted events over the years…as stepping stones to get to a championship like this with the USGA…. For the longest time, we’ve all known how special The Club at Olde Stone was, and our golf course. Now, we’re able to show it off to not only the United States of America, but this is going to be hosted on the Golf Channel this Friday and Saturday, so we’re going to be opening up to everyone around the world.”
Olde Stone has hosted the Junior Ryder Cup, NCAA Division I Regionals, the Southern Amateur, the Southern Junior Amateur and the Kentucky Open leading up to this prestigious championship.
Olde Stone member, 18-year-old Kynadie Adams is competing against superstars from 14 countries and 30 states across America.
“It’s so special,” said Adams. “Not many people can say they’ve played a USGA event at their home course, which is just so cool… It was an honor hitting the first tee shot this morning. Something I’ll remember for a long time.”
Soon enough, the world will have their eyes glued on this championship hosted right here in South Central Kentucky and players like Adams shining a spotlight on local women’s golf.
Childers concluded that, “[Hosting the championship is] a great exposure for, not only Olde Stone, but for Bowling Green itself.”
