‘Keep the Lights On’ benefit concert held Saturday
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Local South Central Kentucky musicians and Nashville artists joined BG Forward to raise money for tornado victims.
The concert included The Josephines, Fat Box, Lillie Mae and the Family Circus, Fort Defiance, The Young Romantics and Bowling Green Rock Band Academy.
All proceeds are helping tornado victims pay utility bills and buy appliances. Local companies like Gasper Brewing Company stepped up to help, donating 25% of their beer sales and t-shirt sales to the fundraiser.
Gasper Brewing Company owner Isaiah King said, “I’m just incredibly thankful that everybody’s coming together as a community. This is just an awesome event.”
BG Forward coordinator Jim Sears said, “The town has come together like you can’t believe, and just all these people participating jumped in with both feet. We’re blessed to be in BG, and you know, BG tight.”
Before the show even started, they raised $20,000.
Sears asks anyone who needs financial help after the tornado to anonymously message him on Instagram @DowntownBGHappenings.
