6th District Magistrate candidate hosts meet and greet in Alvaton

ALVATON, Ky.- As the political season heats up, candidates are inviting the community to events across South Central Kentucky to share their campaign goals and meet with voters.

6th District Magistrate candidate Justin Gearlds hosted a meet and greet at Boyce General Store in Alvaton Friday evening.

Gearlds seeks to unseat incumbent magistrate Ron Cummings, who has served two terms, in the upcoming primary election.

Rod Hutcheson is also a candidate on the ballot.

He says he’s made it a personal goal to connect with all voters and share his mission since launching his campaign in November 2025.

“People who have not had the opportunity to hear our mission, to hear our vision, and to meet me and my family, this is a prime time for them to come out, meet us, shake our hands, and allow me to sit down and listen to their concerns,” says Gearlds.

Gearlds says his campaign is focused on a proactive and responsible approach to growth, as the BG 2050 study projects Warren County to double in size in the coming decades.

“With the current state of our infrastructure, our utilities, and things like that, we cannot handle that surplus of people. So we need to start planning now in order to get to where we can house that many people,” says Gearlds.

He added, “You know, if I’m elected, one of the main things that I’m going to do is I’m going to be involved, I’m going to be accessible, and I will be responsive to the to the people in my community in district six and all of Warren County.”

The last day to register to vote in the primary election is April 20, with the primary election on May 19.
