63-year-old dies in UTV collision in Boyle County

GRAVEL SWITCH, Ky. – The Kentucky State Police is investigating a fatal crash involving a utility terrain vehicle.

According to a release, KSP Richmond Post troopers responded to a single-vehicle collision on Forkland Road in Gravel Switch Friday evening after being contacted by the Boyle County Sheriff’s Office.

KSP’s preliminary investigation indicates that 41-year-old Jason Whitaker, of Lebanon, was operating a UTV and failed to control a right-hand turn. The UTV left the roadway and struck a tree.

A passenger in the UTV, 63-year-old Connie Thompson, of Lebanon, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

KSP says Whitaker was life-flighted to the University of Albert B. Chandler Hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.

Toxicology reports are pending, according to the release.

The investigation is ongoing.
