2020 BB&T Concerts in the Park series cancelled

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A long-time Bowling Green summer music series will not be taking place this year.

The Downtown Redevelopment Authority made the decision to not move forward with scheduled dates for the 2020 BB&T Concerts in the Park music series due to the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a release issued Wednesday.

The release reads, “Information and guidelines from local and state officials concerning the COVID-19 pandemic continue to indicate that mass gatherings during the Summer could jeopardize the health of our community. Because of this, The Downtown Redevelopment Authority is compelled to announce that the 2020 season of BB&T Concerts in the Park will not go forward as planned. Thank you for supporting BB&T Concerts in the Park these last 40 years. We will be back!”

The event runs from late June until early September annually and draws around 25,000 spectators to Circus Square Park in Bowling Green.

According to Downtown Redevelopment Authority Executive Director Ron Murphy, this is the first full schedule cancellation in the event’s four-decade history.
