12-year-old shot, killed at Union Terrace in Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A 12-year-old was shot and killed in Nashville Sunday evening.

According to a social media post, Nashville Metro Police Entertainment District Unit officers responded to the area of Rep. John Lewis Way and Deaderick Street at 7:30 pm to reports of shots fired.

Officers say they located 12-year-old Damarion Morehead dead from an apparent gunshot wound to the head at Union Terrace.

Detectives say witnesses told them that a group of individuals met in the area for a “fight.”

During the incident, shots were fired, and one struck Morehead.

According to the post, detectives arrested 24-year-old Devin Orr at a home on Fisk Street. Detectives say Orr is the suspected shooter.

Orr is charged with criminal homicide.

The investigation is ongoing.
