1 killed in two-vehicle collision in Perry County

SLEMP, Ky. – One person is dead following a two-vehicle collision in Perry County on Monday.
According to the Kentucky State Police, around 4:30 p.m. Monday, troopers were contacted to assist with investigating and reconstructing a two-vehicle fatal collision on Old Beech Fork Road in the Slemp community or Perry County.
Authorities say they learned through a preliminary investigation that a pickup truck was traveling along Old Beech Fork Road when the driver failed to negotiate a steep curve, causing the vehicle to cross the center line and collide with a Ford Explorer driven by 82-year-old Bobbie Boggs of Big Laurel.
Boggs was pronounced dead at the scene by the Perry County Coroner’s Office.
The driver of the pickup truck and two passengers were transported to Hazard ARH Regional Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Boggs was transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort, where autopsy and toxicology results are pending.
Authorities say seat belts were used during the collision.
The crash remains under investigation.
