Woman presents handmade bed mats to help Scottsville homeless population

SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. – The Scottsville Police Department is acknowledging one woman for her dedication to the community.

Police shared on Facebook Friday that Mrs. Nadine Wilkerson made a generous donation of three crocheted bed mats to the police department to give them to homeless community members.

These handmade items, designed from plastic grocery bags, are intended to be used as sleeping mats, preventing individuals from lying on the ground.

Police say it took Wilkerson two and a half weeks to make each mat, which they say contains around 700 plastic bags.

The police department says it will distribute the mats to those in need. Wilkerson thanked the local VFW and attendees of bingo nights for their donation of plastic bags for this project.
