WNKY News 40 Weather Forecast
News 40 Weather | Prepare For A Polar Plunge!
RAINY, WINDY AND WARM
An approaching cold front will bring a chance of showers and thunderstorms as we head through your Friday. While there is a risk for a few strong to severe storms this afternoon, the overall threat is conditional in that there is limited instability to produce a severe weather event. Expect a few gusty storms with large hail being the primary threat, especially east of I-65. The rain will move out pretty quickly this evening leaving a partly cloudy sky and some patchy fog by early Saturday morning. Saturday will be dry and warm with highs back to near 70.
SEVERAL SHOTS OF COLDER AIR!
By Saturday evening, another cold front approaches with a slight chance of rain showers. Behind this front will be the first hint at cooler air as we drop into the 40’s and stay there on Sunday. Then, another blast of Arctic air moves in Sunday afternoon and evening, along with a chance of light rain, possibly mixed with snow flurries into Sunday night as temperatures plummet into the mid 20’s and wind chills in the teens! Monday will be very cold with morning flurries and bitter winds and highs only in the upper 30’s. Once again, we will fall into the mid 20’s Monday night into Tuesday morning with wind chills back into the teens.
WARMER AIR RETURNS
Once we shake off the bitter winter teaser for the start of next week, we will begin to moderate in temperature climbing back into the 50’s and 60’s for the middle and end of next week.
