News 40 Weather | Put the Christmas Sweaters Away?

WAITING TO SHOW OFF THOSE SWEATERS…
If you like receiving sweaters for Christmas, you may have to wait to show them off. Or make sure you’re ready to wipe away sweat…because we have some VERY unseasonably warm temperatures for Christmas Week and especially Christmas Day and Kwanzaa. After an extremely mild night in the upper 40s, highs are going to trend in the low to mid-60s through Christmas Eve and then highs rise to the 70-degree mark by Christmas Day! A strong cold front will move into the area for the weekend and that will bring not only another chance of rain to the area but temperatures will tumble, moving closer to where they should be for this time of year.

SPEAKING OF RAIN…
We’re going to have a series of cold fronts move through the area this week. Most of them are not very strong but they deliver the rain. As mentioned above, the system for the weekend packs more punch. And that means a bigger change in temperatures and possibly some rumbles of thunder. With the temperature change Sunday, we could see the showers wrap up as a little snow shower activity.
