UPDATE: Repairs being completed after gas line rupture at WKU’s Gatton Academy

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Crews responded Wednesday for reported gas line rupture at Gatton Academy on Western Kentucky University’s campus.

The Bowling Green Fire Department and Atmos Energy were at the scene at 309 College Heights Boulevard.

News 40 crews tell us both Gatton Academy buildings evacuated.

WKU released the following alert around 10 a.m.:

“A gas leak has been confirmed at Gatton Academy/Florence Schneider Hall. Stay away from the area. Do not enter the building. A notice to re-enter the building will be given.”

WKU stated later that afternoon that the gas leak at Florence Schneider was under control.

The university says repairs are being completed, and it’s safe to enter the building. Be cautious of nearby equipment in the affected area.
