WKU to relocate 388 students from Hilltopper Hall

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Western Kentucky University’s Housing and Residence Life sent out an email Thursday, Jan. 18 notifying students residing in Hilltopper Hall that they will need to relocate by early February.
Since some of the masonry work on the outside of Hilltopper Hall had shifted out of position, this prompted an investigation into an assessment of the building, according to WKU’s website.
As a result, Housing and Residence Life says it will be helping to relocate students, who will need to choose a new residence hall between Jan. 19 and Jan. 22.
Students will have a couple of options, according to WKU, which will include either McCormack Hall or private rooms at Pearce Ford Tower and Douglas Keen. Choosing to remain on campus will result in needing to pay that hall’s rate with an additional $1,000 housing credit.
The second option will include off-campus housing, an exemption granted to affected students from the required housing policy.
If students move off of campus, they will not be charged a contact termination fee, according to the email.
All students must be relocated by Feb. 4.
