WKU Player of the Week: track and field athlete Van Thrasher

Van Thrasher

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – It may be April Fools’ Day, but one WKU track and field star wasn’t fooling around this past weekend, and that’s our latest Player of the Week winner, Van Thrasher.

Thrasher won first in a duo of events during the Jim Vargo Invitational hosted by Bellarmine University.

The junior took the top spot in the high jump, clearing 1.92 meters, and he also placed first in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.38 seconds.

Thrasher is in his second season on the Hill and is a Bluegrass native, coming to town from Louisville Male High School, so it’s safe to say he felt right at home during last weekend’s competition.

WKU track and field will return to action in just over a week, as the team travels to Knoxville, Tennessee for the Tennessee Invitational on April 10.
