WKU hosts youth baseball camp

BOWLING GREEN, KY – WKU is holding its summer youth baseball camp this week and the 4-day event features kids aged 6 through 12 as they learn the fundamentals of the sport.

Throughout the week the focus of camp is to teach the youngsters how to be a teammate and how to have fun on the field.

One of the camp coaches spoke on how the week brings an equal amount of joy for both the kids and the coaches.

“We’re just having fun,” WKU Director of Operations Derek Francis said. “It allows us to relax and allows the kids to enjoy themselves and be around us and allows us to stay young too. There’s no business involved and we’re not trying to win or anything like that. It’s just about getting out here, enjoying the game of baseball and enjoying the weather. So far, we’ve got a good week for it.”
