WKU hosts second Presidential Speaker Series with Dr. Lisa Genova
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – At Van Meter Hall on WKU’s campus, the community came out to learn a little more about our memory.
Dr. Lisa Genova is the second person to be featured in the Presidential Speaker series.
Genova is a best selling author who has written many books about neurological diseases.
Her most famous work, “Still Alice,” which is about Alzheimer’s, was adapted into a movie where actress Julianne Moore won Best Actress at the Oscars.
Genova is honored to take part in the Speaker Series, and hopes everyone… students & parents alike… take away one thing from her presentation.
“I like to make the promise to folks who I give this talk to that this is actually a life-changing talk… I kinda guarantee it, that you will walk away feeling less anxious and calmer and more confident in your day-to-day life in terms of how your memory works and why you’re forgetting when it’s actually normally to forget what we tend to forget every day,” she says.
Dr. Genova stresses it’s OK to forget things, and you won’t develop early onset Alzheimer’s by forgetting a simple thing.
She also recommends learning something new every day to keep your memory sharp.
