WKU freshman guard Julius Thedford transfers to Memphis

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The NCAA transfer portal continues to stay active in collegiate basketball and this week, Julius Thedford became the first Topper to officially leave the Hill.

After entering the portal just a few short weeks ago, the freshman officially announced on Monday he will be returning to his home state of Tennessee to play for head coach Penny Hardaway at the University of Memphis.

A Memphis native himself, Thedford spent just one year at WKU where he averaged 12.4 points per game before suffering a season ending knee injury in January.

The guard will be joining a Tigers team that won the American Athletic Conference Tournament this year before falling in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

With Thedford’s commitment, six Hilltoppers now remain in the portal.
