WKU Football: Hilltoppers fall to Central Arkansas in season opener 35-28
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – It feels like deja vu for both WKU football players and fans alike.
For the second straight season, the Hilltoppers lost their home opener to an FCS opponent, with WKU falling to Central Arkansas 35-28 on Thursday night at Houchens-Smith Stadium.
The Tops started brightly, jumping out to a 14-0 lead, but the Bears clawed back to cut the deficit to 21-14 at halftime.
The Hilltoppers extended their lead to 28-14 in the third quarter, but Central Arkansas responded with 21 unanswered points to drop the Tops to 0-1 on the season.
Next up for WKU is the start of Conference USA play as they’ll head on the road to take on Florida International.
