Wilson, Petrie secure funding for Todd County road improvements

FRANKFORT, Ky. – Significant improvements are coming to Todd County.
In a release on Monday, the Commonwealth of Kentucky Senate Majority Caucus announced that Senator Mike Wilson, R-Bowling Green, and Rep. Jason Petrie, R-Elkton, secured millions of dollars to improve Todd County infrastructure.
The improvements will be made to support local infrastructure, wastewater, and road projects, a part of the state’s two-year road plan.
According to the release, Wilson and the senate secured $450 million from Kentucky’s $3.7 billion budget reserve trust fund, as a provision of House Bill 1. The fund seeks improvements and repairs to state roads, bridges and highways. Todd County will receive $28 million for the City of Guthrie for the Guthrie Wastewater Treatment Plant, $1.75 million for the Todd County Fiscal Court to support upgrades and equipment for county and city parks and the high school technology center.
Wilson and Petrie also secured almost $11 million for planning, designing, obtaining rights-of-way, utility work, and construction of various projects in the county as a part of House Bill (HB) 266. Projects include $4.5 million to upgrade the connection on Haddensville Rd (KY Highway 848) for a new industrial site, $4.6 million to reduce congestion and improve mobility on US Highway 79 from mile point 0.0 to mile point 3.0, $1.83 million to Reconstruct Elkton Rd (KY Highway 181) from US Highway 79 to north of the intersection with US Highway 41 and a new intersection with KY Highway 294.
Scheduled projects and anticipated needs for the remaining years of the state’s six-year highway construction plan will move forward.
The 2024 Legislative Session concluded on Monday, April 15.
