Wendy’s says it is not raising prices in statement

(CNN) – Despite reports Wendy’s was planning to test raising prices during peak hours, the company says that is not true.

In a statement released Wednesday, Wendy’s said the plans to add digital menu boards in restaurants will be used to change featured item, not how much those items cost.

The idea of “surge pricing” at Wendy’s quickly garnered backlash on social media.

Wendy’s says the company does not plan to raise prices at busy times, and any new features are designed to benefit customers.
