Water rescue reported at Dog Creek campground in Hart County

CUB RUN, Ky. – One person was reportedly rescued from the water over the weekend at the Dog Creek campground.

The Nolin River Lake, US Army Corps of Engineers released the following statement regarding the incident:

“A member of the public was found unresponsive by visitors at the Dog Creek campground beach on Saturday. These visitors removed the unresponsive individual from the water, and on-looking visitors joined in to provide CPR to the individual. It is our understanding that this individual responded well to CPR, and regained consciousness. It is also our understanding that they were transported for additional medical care by Emergency Medical Services.”

“We would like to praise the members of the public who responded by taking action. These folks saved the life of this individual. We also thank the members of our local fire departments and rescue organizations, law enforcement, and Emergency Medical Services. These individuals contribute significantly to the safety of our community and the visitors who enjoy Nolin River Lake. Summer is a busy time for them around the lake. We recognize their efforts and thank them.

“As we head into the later part of the summer recreation season, the US Army Corps of Engineers would like to take this opportunity to remind visitors to be intentional about safety as they recreate in and around water. Water based recreation is enjoyable, but water must be respected. Always swim with a buddy. Stay engaged with your swimming buddy. Always wear a life jacket.”
