Washington Post article highlights Mammoth Cave National Park

MAMMOTH CAVE, Ky. – We have a rock star in our midst! Or, at least that is what The Washington Post called Mammoth Cave National Park recently.

In a tweet, Mammoth Cave shared the Post’s article and said, “It’s official, we have just achieved rock star status! It’s fitting as we have been introducing visitors to rock for over 200 years.”

One ranger said cave tours have been going on since the 1860’s.

Mammoth Cave became a national park in 1941 and since then, millions of people have visited the park and experienced Kentucky’s very own rock star.

“Mammoth Cave is such an interesting resource. Depending on what you are interested in, I think we have a little bit of it all. We’ve got geology, those rocks, the stalagmites and stalactites, how the cave was formed, and we have such a great history that goes all the way back to the Native Americans 4,000-5,000 years ago to modern man who started coming in in the 1800’s,” said Molly Schroer, Mammoth Cave National Park Ranger and public information officer.

The cave features countless tours, trails, plants, and animals for visitors to enjoy.
