Warren County man allegedly wrecks stolen vehicle in Madisonville

ALVATON, Ky. – A Warren County man is behind bars after allegedly crashing a stolen vehicle in Madisonville on Sunday.

According to a uniform citation, the Madisonville Police Department responded early Sunday morning for a reported traffic accident off of North Main Street and Nebo Road in Madisonville.

Police say around 3:30 a.m., 19-year-old Daelyn Howell of Alvaton had stolen a vehicle after consuming alcohol and wrecked it on North Main Street in front of an Arby’s nearly an hour later.

Authorities say the vehicle had significant damage, with a front tire separated from the vehicle and a blown black tire.

Police say Howell ran from the scene but was later identified and located.

Authorities say Howell admitted to the vehicle theft and damage to the vehicle. In addition, police say Howell admitted to consuming alcohol that day.

Following Standard Field Sobriety Testing, Howell was arrested and transported to the Hopkins County Jail. He has since been released.

He faces charges of theft by unlawful taking or disposition auto between $1,000 and $10,000, first-degree criminal mischief, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol under 21 years of age, leaving the scene of an accident and failure to notify address change to Department of Transportation.
