Warren County Emergency Management provides update on heat advisory, safety tips

WARREN COUNTY, Ky. – The weather continues to dominate the conversations across south central Kentucky.

Warren County is in a heat advisory until 8 p.m., but the high temperatures and humidity will be back again tomorrow.

Warren County Emergency Management says that heat-related illnesses like heat exhaustion and heat stroke can happen much quicker when temperatures are in the ’90s or above.

EMS says that everyone should be taking precautions during this extreme heat as we head into our holiday weekend.

“The heat is still going to be there, so make sure you’re taking plenty of breaks,” says Casey Archey with Warren County EMA. “Stay in the shade. Avoid soda and other carbonated drinks. Stick to water and Gatorade to keep your body hydrated.”

EMS also reminds everyone to take a 15-minute break in air conditioning for every two hours you spend outside.

Be sure to also check on elderly neighbors and anyone with illnesses like lung and heart disease or asthma, who are more vulnerable in extreme heat.
