‘Walk A Mile in Their Shoes,’ Barren County Reads and Feeds prepares for annual fundraiser

BARREN COUNTY, Ky. – It’s their sole fundraiser for doing great work around the community to fight food insecurity in Barren County students.

Barren County Reads and Feeds is a nonprofit that the school started to help out hungry kids, a need that seems to grow every year. The “Walk a Mile in Their Shoes” event is to raise money for the program and help immensely over the summer to help feed kids and their families who might be facing hunger.

Those who participate in the physical walk are asked to skip dinner the night before, skip breakfast the morning of, then walk a mile from the square to First Christian Church to simulate a child who only eats at school.

Right now, the school system is looking for donations and sponsors for the event which can be filled out on the schools website and offer details such as registration at https://www.barren.kyschools.us/.

The event starts May 11 at 7 a.m. in the Glasgow Square.
