Voices of Honor – Kentucky WWII soldiers in the Philippines

We often remember December 7th and Pearl Harbor this week, but today is the 80th anniversary of the World War Two Japanese invasion of the Philippines, which was an American colony at the time.

Some Kentuckians lost their lives in that invasion, and, in this week’s Voices of Honor, Gerald Carroll tells us about two of them: his great uncle and Robert Brooks, an African-American soldier serving alongside white servicemen despite the segregation of military forces at that time.

You can hear Part One and Part Two of Gerald Carroll’s story, which follow his finding passion for aviation and how different presidents left their mark on the military.
