View the partial solar eclipse at Mammoth Cave National Park

MAMMOTH CAVE, Ky. – Experience a partial solar eclipse at Mammoth Cave National Park on Saturday, Oct. 14 at 10:39 a.m. Central Daylight Time.
The park says visitors will safely use telescopes to see the moon pass between the sun and Earth, partially blocking it from our view.
Park guides will also present solar eclipse themed activities for community.
The activities will include “The Science Behind an Eclipse” with ranger Aaron at the visitor center museum from 9 to 9:45 a.m., the Kid’s Workshop Station from 9:45 to 10:30 a.m. and the all day Junior Astronomer Program for future Jr. Rangers.
During the kid’s workshop activity, children will make pinhole projectors to safely watch the eclipse.
All activities will take place at the park visitor center and are free and open to the public with no tickets needed.
Officials say the only safe way to look directly at the sun during the partial eclipse is through special-purpose solar filters, such as eclipse glasses or solar viewers. The park will provide several safe ways to see the partial eclipse.
