Uptown Motel in Scottsville to be shut down in 60 days

SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. – After a long investigation starting in June 2022, the Uptown Motel will be no more and the property’s future will lie in the hands of Scottsville Police Department and the Allen County sheriff.

News 40 spoke to SPD chief Darren Tabor concerning the now closed case which will impact several people. Tabor said it all started with a patrol officer being tipped off that illegal trafficking activity was going on at the motel and after “several controlled buys”, the Allen County – Scottsville Crime Task Force was granted a warrant and moved in.

Tabor said he’s not sure how many people reside in the extended stay, but he said the property owner has 60 days to vacate along with the tenants who will be served eviction notices now that the property belongs to law enforcement as part of 73-year-old Dilawar Dwivedi’s plea deal.

News 40 spoke to a local business owner directly across the street, and she said since relocating to her new location off the square, she’s come across evidence of substance use discarded on her own property and said she felt the motel posed somewhat of a threat due to children living at the motel.

Tabor said it’s not quite certain what will happen to the motel just yet but Bray said she hopes that if anything pops up in support of these families that have to move out, people will donate their resources and time to help them in whatever way needed.
