UPDATE: Name released of victim in fatal crash in Logan County

LOGAN COUNTY, Ky. – One person has died and another was hospitalized following a crash Saturday in Logan County.

The Logan County Sheriff’s Office says it responded around 10:44 .m. that morning for a two-vehicle collision near the intersection of Friendship Road and Franklin Road.

Officials say they observed two vehicles off of the road with severe damage.

The occupants were extracted from each vehicle at the scene, according to authorities.

Deputies say they discovered Darcy Fournier of Cross Plains, Tennessee was traveling eastbound when Roger Carrol of Portland, Tennessee traveled westbound. Authorities say this is when Carrol crossed the center line, resulting in a head-on collision with Fournier’s vehicle.

Fournier was pronounced dead at the scene by the Logan County Coroner’s Office.

Carrol was taken to Logan Memorial Hospital before later being transferred to Skyline Hospital for treatment.

Deputies say alcohol was a contributing factor and charges will be sent to Commonwealth Attorney Neil Kerr’s office.

This is an ongoing investigation.
