UPDATE: More than 70 dogs rescued from hoarding conditions in Edmonson County

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Rescuers say dozens of dogs are now in safe hands after living in terrible circumstances.
On Saturday, the Bowling Green – Warren County Humane Society says it got an emergency call about 79 dogs living in a hoarding situation in Edmonson County.
Rescuers say the dogs lived in conditions that included overcrowded, unsanitary kennels, dogs chained to trees and nothing to eat except rotten eggs and dead chickens from a nearby farm.
The animals reportedly had water unfit for consumption, officials say.
Rescuers said they couldn’t just leave the animals there, so a rescue operation brought them to the shelter despite an ongoing code red situation from intakes.
The shelter took to social media, asking for help to bathe the animals. By Saturday evening, rescuers say almost every dog received a bath and care from volunteers.
The humane society says adoption fees are $25 until further notice.
If you would like to inquire about an adoption or donation to help this situation, visit the humane society’s Facebook page or call during business hours at 270-842-8572.
