NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSVN) – Two adults and three children were killed in Monday night’s plane crash in Nashville, Tennessee, officials say.

Investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board are in Nashville and launched their investigation into the fatal plane crash along Interstate 40 in west Nashville.

The wreckage was removed from the scene early Tuesday.

The pilot of the single-engine plane reported engine and power failure issues and needed to make an emergency landing.

The plane never reached the airport.

It lost latitude and crashed along I-40, just three miles from the landing strip.

The Piper Saratoga was registered in Canada, and the victims on board were Canadian citizens.
